For American English, the standard term is called hummus. However, there are different variations of the dish such as hummous, hommus, hommos, hoummos, and humos. Just like the several spellings of the Arabic word ḥummuṣ bi ṭaḥīna (chickpeas with tahini), the preferences of individuals for its taste also varies. We all have our favorite flavor.
I have friends who prefer this particular consistency with their hummus while I prefer another. Despite our disagreements with its taste and other variables, we still share something in common which is our love for hummus.
The following are five vegan hummus recipes that you can experiment on with your friends. They are all delicious but #3 is my favorite. You will no doubt have a favorite hummus recipe of your own that you prefer. And if you have a recipe not listed, please share in the comments.

There is a consensus that the popularity of hummus can be attributed to its versatility which I agree. It can be used as a dip for crackers, tortillas, pita bread and vegetables among others. Aside from this, it can also be used as a sandwich spread which is awesome. Another reason is that after getting the knack of cooking it, it becomes easier to make one. Actually, it is quite fast to make hummus which is why it is also often used as a quick munch. For those who are looking for another unique way to utilize hummus, then this Simple White Bean Hummus recipe is for you.
