6 Vegan Milk Alternatives

We will look at a few more vegan milk products. These are all plant based milk that are delicious and food for you. Nearly everyone has tried soy milk or almond milk, but as you will see there are many other options as well.

Oat Milk

Before I became a vegan, I have never considered that I whole grain oats can be used as a milk alternative. All I knew was that whole grain oats are eaten for my breakfast and if I feel like primping myself, I also use it as a beauty product. However, as of the late, I have been drinking oat milk among the other vegan milk alternatives.

Oat milk has several health benefits because it carries the same properties as whole grain oats when eaten. For instance, whole grain oats which prevents bad cholesterol build-up is also present in oat milk. Oat milk also has high fiber content which is important for digestion. Aside from these, there is no saturated fat present in oat milk. It also has phytochemicals which can help in protect against heart disease, stroke and some forms of cancer.

Rice Milk

When I went on a trip to Asia, specifically in Eastern and Southeastern Asia, rice is considered as a staple for any meal. It seemed like a meal is not complete without the presence of rice. I was able to talk to one of the locals and he said that it would not matter if there is no viand as long as there is rice.

Rice milk has several health benefits. Before talking about the good points of drinking rice milk, it should be noted that rice milk triggers the least allergic reaction which means that almost anyone can drink it. To those who are vegan or those who have allergic reactions to dairy milk, rice milk should be taken into consideration as am alternative. Aside from this, rice milk doesn’t have any cholesterol or saturated fat which makes it a healthy drink. However, it should be noted that there is no protein present in rice milk. You cannot rely on rice milk for your protein needs so there should be other sources of protein on your diet.

Coconut Milk

Coconuts are very abundant in Southern and Southeastern Asia. Along the coastlines of countries like Malaysia and Philippines, you can definitely spot a coconut tree. Rather, you can spot an entire coastline with lots of coconut trees. You can also find this member of the palm family in mountainous areas. Creating coconut is similar to the process of making dairy milk but the difference lies in nutritional values and coconut milk being gastrointestinal friendly.

Coconut milk is rich in fiber and high in nutritional value. It has vitamins and minerals that are essential for the body development such as C, E, B1, B3, B6, Calcium, Magnesium, Phosphorus and many others. However, it is advised that coconut milk should only be drank 1 or 2 times per week because it contains significant amounts of saturated fatty acids.
