Vegans who forego animal-products also forego contracting the diseases that are associated with them such as hypertension and increased amount of cholesterol in the bloodstream. On the other hand many studies have shown that vegetarians seem to have a lower risk of obesity, coronary heart disease (which causes heart attack), high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus and some forms of cancer.
