Number Seven: Better Mental Health
Vegans live longer than the normal human simply because vegans are often in a better mood. Happiness is a complex topic with varying answers but vegans often have a good sense of well-being. This means that they are less likely to commit suicide which one of the world’s leading cause of deaths.
A report from Nutrition Facts and Dr. Gregor reveals that plant-based diets may positively influence mental health. Vegetarians, in both cross-sectional and interventional studies, appear to have fewer symptoms of depression, anxiety, stress, and mood disturbance than omnivores, perhaps because of less need for medical treatment or because of the significantly lower intake of arachidonic acid (see also here), which is found in particularly high levels in chicken and eggs.
