9 Healthy Vegan Cooking Hacks
You don’t have to give up many of the same recipes you loved before you went vegan. Most soups, casseroles, cakes and baked goods can still be delicious and vegan! You may have to experiment to get the perfect amount as the affect these substitutions have on taste will vary depending on the recipe.
1 cup butter or shortening = 1 cup applesauce
1 cup butter = 1 cup of firm banana or 1 cup mashed avocado
1 Tbsp sugar = 1 tsp cinnamon
1 cup chocolate chips = 1 cup carob chips
1 cup white flour = 1 cup black bean puree
1 large egg = 1 Tbsp chia seeds and 3 Tbsp water
1 cup cream = 1 cup coconut milk
1 Tbsp. mayo or other sandwich spreads = 1 Tbsp. mashed avocado, hummus, mustard, almond butter.
1 Can Cream of Chicken Soup = Mashed potato flakes or pureed carrots, add to broth until you get the consistency you want
