Death By Veganism? Remembering The Outrage

Death By Veganism? Remembering The Outrage

This isn't a vegan recipe or some cute story about someone's pet lamb. It isn't a funny list of facts about vegans that you will want to share with all of your friends. It isn't any of those things. But you should still want to share it. In fact, if you are vegan one could argue that it is your duty.

Crown Shakur was a premature baby that died. He didn't die until he was 6 weeks old though and in fact was living with his parents like a normal baby. When baby Crown died an investigation was launched and his parents were charged with murder, involuntary manslaughter and cruelty. They were also convicted of those horrible crimes as they should have been. No one would disagree with that. But something else got put on trial that day. Sadly, instead of the trial and the headlines in the papers being about these horrible parents that starved their child to death, a different agenda sprung up. It was an attack on Veganism.

You may have missed this story and that is why I am sharing it here. Because it's important. For a lot of reasons. This wasn't a small story and it didn't happen in the 70's. No, this is recent history and it could happen again. How big was this story? The headline in the New York Times, yes that NY Times, was “Death By Veganism.” If I didn't just read the story I wouldn't believe it myself!

How did vegans essentially get put on trial for murder in the press rather than it being about abusive parents? You won't believe it. Keep reading on the next page.
