Are you ready to make this easy yogurt recipe. If you have been disappointed with vegan yogurt from the store then you should definitely whip this homemade yogurt recipe up. You only need two ingredients and a little time. The results are delicious.
You can make this homemade vegan yogurt recipe without the thermometer but you will be doing some guess work. If you want to make 100% sure your yogurt recipe turns out right then I’d definitely use one if you have it. But you can make this yogurt without one if necessary.
Pre-heat the oven to 110 degrees
Warm soy milk in a large pot over medium heat stirring constantly. Warm until just before it starts to boil. This is 200 degrees on your candy thermometer. If you don’t have that, you will see tiny bubbles right before it starts to boil.
Remove milk from heat. Let it cool until its warm to the touch. If you have a thermometer it should be 116 degrees. Keep stiring the milk occasionally to keep a film from forming on top.
Pour the powder from one probiotic pill into the milk and whisk it in thoroughly
Pour this mixture into a glass or pyrex dish and cover with a lid and place it into the oven. Turn to oven off. Leave your oven light on. It will keep just enough heat inside the oven for the yogurt process to happen.
Leave in oven for 8 to 10 hours. Do not open the oven to check during this time. Leave it closed. The longer your mixture sits the tangier it will be.
Remove from oven and let cool.
You will see some stuff has separated and risen to the top. You can whisk it back in for a lighter yogurt, or skim it off for a thicker greek yogurt consistency.
Will store in fridge for up to 7 days.
Feel free to add berries, granola, or use it in recipes that call for yogurt. Enjoy!
