How To Whiten Teeth: Without Dangerous Chemicals!

The strawberry and baking soda method of whitening teeth is by far our personal favorite. It’s very simple to do and we always have strawberries at the house. There are some other methods that are effective too.

We have personally used the first method with lemon and it works. We don’t prefer it over the strawberry but you might. The other method is oil pulling and honestly we have never tried that but many people swear it’s amazing.

Vegan teeth whitening method using Lemon

Take several teaspoons of baking soda and mix in freshly squeezed lemon juice. You will only want enough lemon juice mixed in so it makes a thick paste. So add a little at a time until you get the right consistency. You want it to be a very thick paste.

Using a toothbrush, apply this thick paste to your teeth and let it set for 1 minute. Do NOT let it set any longer. Rinse with fresh water completely after 1 minute is up. Do this 3 times per week for white teeth everyone will notice!

Do those two methods seem too intense for you? Too much acidity? They won’t harm you and they work great. But there is one last method you can try if these don’t suit you. Many people prefer it. Find out how to do it on the next page!

Oil Pulling for Dental Health

This final method to whiten teeth is called ‘oil pulling.’ It has been around for generations. It sounds too gross for some people to even try. Other people love it and swear it leaves their mouth and breath fresh and clean.

Many people do this about once a month because of it’s many benefits for gum health. It does a lot more than just whiten your teeth and that’s why so many people prefer it. While it sounds really disgusting it’s really simple to do.

All you need for this is about a tablespoon of coconut oil. First thing in the morning you should rinse your mouth with water. Then take a tablespoon of coconut oil and put it in your mouth. If it is still kind of hard just be patient and it will soften in your mouth.

You want to swish this coconut oil all in your mouth, forcing it between your teeth and all through your mouth. Repeat this swishing over and over. You will need to do this for 10 to 15 minutes. When you are through, spit it out and rinse your mouth. Then brush your teeth with your favorite vegan toothpaste.

If you try any of these or currently use any of these methods, please comment and let us know how they work for you.

Strawberries are actually staining, and baking soda will remove surface stains because it is abrasive, dangerous to enameal.

My grandma told me about the strawberry thing quite a while ago! She has always done natural stuff over chemicals. I’ve never tried it tho, I never remember.

I oil pull with coconut oil 1 x/day for 15-20 minutes. It’s whitened my teeth quite a bit!! I want my teeth whiter though (like paper white teeth). I’m not sure how to achieve that..

Eh, lemon juice on your teeth is not such a great idea. It erodes your tooth enamel. In fact lemon juice is so acidic it’s probably the worst thing you could bathe your teeth in. “/

  7. The acidity in these fruits will hurt your enamel, but I agree its still better than commercial whiteners. I tried oil pulling for about a month and it made my teeth so sensitive I couldn’t continue. My teeth are huge babies with everything though. Any suggestions for super sensitive teeth?
