Why I Replaced My Face Cleanser With Coconut Oil

When was the last time you had an important meeting or a date and you were not happy with your face?

Maybe I’m the only one but I used to get break outs, dry patches, oily patches, and worse. At one point I had 18 different face cleaning products in my bathroom. I also used an ionic face cleaner.

About 8 months ago my sister told me she had read that coconut oil could be used to clean skin, kill bacteria and moisturize. I didn’t pay too much attention to what she said because she also used to wash her hair in beer. Hey, beer may be a great shampoo. But I’ll never know because I am not doing that.

Two months go by and we are having a cookout at her house. The guys are tossing a ball around and we are just talking and enjoying a cocktail. I suddenly realized that her face and skin looked amazing. I mean it was so noticeable you couldn’t miss it.

When I asked her about it and she told me it was because of coconut oil I decided to take her seriously. No one on the planet has worse skin than me and my face is always a struggle to maintain.

If you look in my bathroom today you will only seem some hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, make up, and feminine hygiene products. I replace all of those facial scrubs and creams with one thing. Coconut oil. It’s my facial scrub, it’s my moisturizer and it’s my breakout insurance.

It really is that amazing. For me it has been life changing. I have a pretty simple but effective cleansing routine I use and I am happy to share it with you. Give it a try and let me know your results! Check out this coconut face cleansing routine tutorial video.

  1. Coconut oil is HIGHLY comedogenic, so for those who are prone to breakouts this is an enemy.

I’ve read that fractionated coconut oil, however, is noncomedogenic.

Hemp seed oil and pumpkin seed oil are noncomedogenic as well.

A quick Google search will tell you the properties of different oils so you can play around and see what your skin likes best. It’s a little irritating to me that coconut oil is so highly touted for use on the face. So many people may run out and try it, oblivious to the fact it may be a nightmare for them.

I encourage everyone to do their own research! 🙂

  2. I’m all for coconut oil, but not for cosmetics that are tested on animals. I realize that’s not the point of the article, but still! All that work to have nice, glowing skin only to cover your face with chemical-laden makeup anyways? I don’t get it! BUT coconut oil is amazing stuff!

  3. I’ve been washing my face with coconut oil for 6 days now and I had a break out that is hopefully going away (I read that may happen at first) but my skin doesn’t feel very nice. Kind of scaly.
I have combo skin, dry in some places, oily in others.
