Shocking Effects Of Eating Two Banana’s A Day For One Month

An interesting proposition was proposed in a vegan forum recently. The question was this: What would happen if you ate two bananas every day for a month? Since I started my path to veganism by eating mostly fruits I thought this was an interesting question and one that deserved an answer. I’m all about studying vegan food so let the research begin.

The vegan diet gets a lot of flack which is odd considering it is by far the healthiest lifestyle. Last year there was a fascinating article in Time magazine where scientist ranked the best foods for you to eat of all time. If you missed it you can see all 50 of the top ranking foods here. I think a lot of people were surprised to see that bananas were #1 on that list. Yes, bananas. I have always used bananas in my vegan recipes as much as possible so this was good news to me.

How in the world did bananas beat out kale, spinach, and blueberries as the best vegan food for you to eat? It’s not even a vegetable, it’s a fruit. This flies in the face of all conventional wisdom about fruit. Don’t all the experts say you should limit your fruit due to the high levels of sugar in them? Aren’t they really more like a dessert than a health food, and something to be eaten cautiously? As many of us know none of that is true. Fruit is a delicious source of high nutritional content and it tastes great! That is one thing that makes it the worlds most perfect vegan food.

Ripe-Banana

First, let me blow your mind. Bananas are technically listed as a herb. Is your mind blown now? I know mine was. As a vegan I thought I was aware of everything about fruits and vegetables. But I didn’t know that. If we are going to be properly technical about it bananas are a fruit that come from a herb. The ‘tree’ that bananas come from is technically regarded as a herbaceous plant (or ‘herb’), not a tree, because the stem does not contain true woody tissue, according to Oxford Dictionaries.

Most people know that bananas are high in potassium, even to the point I have seen it mistakenly claimed that if you ate too many bananas you could get potassium poisoning. So, to be technical I guess that’s possible. But what human could eat a semi truck load of bananas? In standard human terms there is no way you can eat that many bananas. Not even close. So what is potassium good for? It has been show to have powerful protective qualities in the cardiovascular system.

But that is just the beginning. What if you ate bananas every day for 30 days, what would happen? I’m not talking about using them in vegan recipes. I mean just eating them. What would be the changes in your body and what health benefits, if any would you gain. Or would the opposite be true? If you ate two bananas every day would it actually have negative health effects? Does this delicious vegan food have any bad side effects or all they all good?

What if I told you there would be nine health effects of eating bananas every day and all of them would be great? Are you ready for this? Get the results of eating two bananas every day on the next page, including a really great video as well. See it on the next page below.

1) Heartburn- The soothing and anti acid properties of bananas can reduce or eliminate heartburn in some people. If you suffer from this try eating two a day and see if it helps you.
2) Blood Pressure- Because bananas are high in potassium and low in sodium they are great for the cardiovascular system. They have been shown to lower blood pressure.
3) Energy- If you are serious about working out then eat a couple of bananas before you begin. The potassium with help prevent muscle cramps and the high quality carbs and sugars will give you clean energy to get through your workout.
4) Anemia- You may not know bananas are a source of high quality dietary iron. This stimulates red blood cell production and strengthens your blood.
5) Ulcers- The smooth, soft, mushy texture of bananas can actually coats the stomach lining and protects it against common irritation and acids that lead to ulcers.
6) Depression- Did you know bananas contain tryptophan, which is used by the body to produce serotonin? Serotonin is associated with calmness and improved mood and mental state.
7) Constipation- Like most other fruits, the high fiber content goes a long way to keeping your regular.
8) Nerves- Bananas can help with blood sugar regulation, they have B vitamins, and the can help with serotonin as mention before. This can help with nerves, mental symptoms caused by PMS and other issues.
9) Regulate body heat- Nothing is more refreshing than a banana. They actually have a cooling factor associate with them. I recommend eating them before and after a workout.

I eat one every day! I usually have it to accompany strawberry jam on multigrain toast or a bagel with Kite Hill cream cheese, but I’ve also used fresh banana in smoothies to add a little natural sugar if the frozen fruit isn’t quite enough.
