Warning! Hummus Recall – Listeria Contamination!

Sabra Dipping Co., LLC announced they are recalling 30,000 cases of their Classic Hummus due to possible contamination from Listeria monocytogenes. These SKU’s were sold nationwide so it’s possible the products you purchased recently could be in this recall.

Listeria monocytogenes is the bacterium that causes the infection listeriosis. Listeriosis primarily causes infections of the central nervous system (meningitis, meningoencephalitis, brain abscess, cerebritis) and bacteremia in those who are immunocompromised,[2] pregnant women, and those at the extremes of age (newborns and the elderly), as well as gastroenteritis in healthy persons who have ingested a large inoculum of the organism. 1. Best is not to buy packaged/processed food at all, but produce it yourself. Hummus is easily made, using a blender, with these basic ingredients: Chickpeas, olive oil, salt&pepper add paprika, garlic, cumin and or tahini, to your liking. Some lemon juice as well as pine nuts are further options and of course any other ingredients you personally like to add. Get creative and enjoy 🙂

  2. If I die from eating hummus just know that I died doing what I love the most

  3. This is serious, recently I got listeria I have been sick for over a month.

  4. I go vegan to get away from things like this and in the last two months AMY’S KITCHEN and now this!! Not very comforting to know!
